We are privileged to have Dan as an invaluable member of our team. Her expertise and dedication have significantly contributed to our success, and her story is a testament to the importance of diversity and inclusion in engineering.
Dan holds a Masters degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and is currently pursuing a second Masters in Data Science. This unique combination of skills drives our projects forward with analytical precision and innovative thinking. Dan’s meticulous approach ensures high-quality, timely results, while her innovative mindset continuously enhances our workflows and increases customer value.
Dan has been instrumental in major projects for our energy customers. One of her notable achievements is expanding the application of DEEP, BMT’s cloud-based data analysis platform, into other industries like dredging.
She is also currently preparing hurricane reports for our customers in the Gulf of Mexico. This project allows her to closely monitor data and leverage her skills to benefit both our them and society. Utilising her data analysis expertise, naval architecture and ocean engineering design knowledge, and communication skills, Dan ensures the safety of offshore assets, and the people involved, during hurricanes.
As the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Chair for the US over the past three years, Dan has played a crucial role in promoting a more inclusive workplace. She has initiated surveys, delivered impactful presentations, and organised events to promote team bonding and raise awareness about DE&I. Her efforts have fostered a more inclusive and supportive environment for all team members.
Dan’s advice to aspiring engineers is simple yet profound:
If you have a passion for STEM, pursue it wholeheartedly. Work hard and don't let stereotypes deter you from achieving your goals.
Dan’s contributions at BMT and her role as a DE&I Chair highlight the need for more women in engineering and the positive changes they can bring.
