BMT leads Aurora Engineering Partnership to secure £18m contract for Royal Navy Technical Documentation Services

BMT, working within the Aurora Engineering Partnership led by QinetiQ in collaboration with AtkinsRéalis and BMT, has secured an £18 million contract from Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) to deliver technical documentation services for the Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) surface ships and submarines. While QinetiQ leads the Aurora Partnership, BMT led this contract placement  for this particular capability requirement, leveraging its deep expertise in technical documentation to support the Royal Navy's operational capabilities. This four-year contract strengthens BMT’s long-standing partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and reaffirms its enduring role in supporting Royal Navy operational readiness through innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.

BMT Leading Technical Documentation Services

As the lead partner on this critical project, BMT will leverage over a decade of expertise in technical documentation to provide accurate, up-to-date support across the Royal Navy and RFA fleets. Technical documentation is essential for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of warships and submarines throughout their life cycle, ensuring operational continuity and readiness. This effort will be supported by key contributions from Allan Webb Limited through the Aurora Provider Network.

A Legacy of Excellence and Innovation

This contract builds upon BMT’s previous work, including the 2019 technical documentation project, which improved the Royal Navy’s operational capabilities. BMT’s innovative approach to technical services has long been a driving force in ensuring that complex maritime systems remain operationally sound. With this new contract, BMT will consolidate multiple existing agreements under one streamlined solution, further enhancing the MOD’s efficiency in managing its fleet.

The Aurora Partnership, which has already proven its capability in delivering hundreds of deliverables to the Ships Domain, continues to evolve and innovate. The strategy implemented by Aurora has consistently delivered faster, better, and more cost-effective solutions, with this new contract marking a key milestone in delivering high-quality services to the Royal Navy.
