Phillip White ContactWe offer comprehensive technical services and consultancy to support all phases of offshore wind projects.
Our expertise spans planning and analysis, leasing and site assessment, construction and operations, and decommissioning.
We combine almost four decades of extensive experience in offshore marine with cutting-edge technologies.
Because we’re owned equally by all of our people, we’re totally focused on ensuring the success and sustainability of your offshore wind projects from inception through decommissioning.
Explore our services by expanding the headings below.
We specialise in understanding metocean statistics and data engineering, by combining our understanding of the marine environment with in-house curated datasets for hindcast calibration. This reduces risk, minimising your costs in challenging engineering projects.
Our advanced and custom analysis of wind and wave conditions ensures that your projects are supported by reliable and accurate data. To ensure smooth project initiation, we recommend simple statistical assessments of sea states for planning and permitting phases. During the installation, construction and decommissioning phases, we provide complex studies designed to support feasibility analysis, detailed engineering, and vessel maneuverability assessments.
Additionally, we develop specifications for – and work with - FLiDAR providers to deliver metocean data collection campaigns, as well as deploy ADCP instrumentation for wave/current measurement.
Development/planning phase: our consultancy services support offshore wind planning and permitting, including early Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) requirements analysis, environmental survey planning, and sustainability strategy development.
We can also provide these services, plus environmental surveys/monitoring, during the leasing and site assessments.
Construction and operations phase: we can measure and report environmental information including metocean conditions, noise, and sediment transport by deploying our Integrated Marine Monitoring Systems (IMMS).
Decommissioning phase: we also provide environmental support during decommissioning, including EIA, Comparative EIA, and EIA Scoping reports.
Construction and operations phase: our services include Asset Integrity Management (AIM), including measurement of structural information, corrosion, and environmental data to ensure asset integrity.
Physical sensors, designed or sourced by us, collect and transfer data to our cloud-based data analytics and insights platform, BMT DEEP.
Additionally, we provide operations management support, structural and metocean consulting, design basis assurance, and operation optimisation.
Our customised monitoring systems are already trusted by oil & gas operators, and are installed on over 60 fixed platforms, FPSOs, semi-submersibles, spars, TLPs worldwide. Including in the extreme conditions of the North Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
We are the leading independent designer of Crew Transfer Vessels (CTV) and Service Operations Vessels (SOV). Over 70 BMT-designed vessels are in operation on wind farms in North America, Europe and Asia.
Our patented Active Fender System® reduces impact loads for turbine structures, allowing BMT-designed CTVs to engage at higher sea states whilst improving safety during personnel transfer. Our recent designs minimise emissions through integrating battery-hybrid propulsion and being ready for alternative fuels such as methanol.
We provide world-class vessel design services to shipyards, vessel owners and operators around the world, leveraging highly experienced naval architects, engineers, 3D modelers and project managers.
Put together, we are well positioned to advise wind farm developers/operators on vessel capability and operational strategies.
We also have over a century of experience in maritime surveying, and manage ~3,000 marine survey assignments each year.
Leveraging our extensive experience with ports and vessels, we can provide services including Transport & Installation studies, Vessel Operations studies, and Discrete Event Simulation. BMT REMBRANDT is a state-of-the art navigation simulation tool that is used by ports around the world to simulate and optimise tow-outs, and to optimise water-side operations and inform channel and port design.
In 2024, our experts presented a cutting-edge solution that will lower the operations and maintenance costs of offshore wind farms. Their innovative ideas were derived from their experience in designing and delivering real-life asset integrity monitoring services to our offshore energy customers – owners of platforms costing billions, operating today in some of the world’s harshest marine environments.
Their solution combines low-cost sensors proven in harsh marine environments, operators’ existing sensors, and the machine learning digital twin functionality of our proven cloud analytics platform BMT DEEP.
