As this Scottish Energy Futures Conference will focus on deploying the technologies necessary to make the energy transition happen - looking at decarbonisation projects happening now, and to the future to see what technologies might deliver the goal of net zero. Join BMT expert, Dr. Suvabrata Das who will present, 'Reducing cost and risk in floating offshore wind – considerations for asset integrity monitoring' at the conference. He'll consider three challenges facing floating offshore windfarms:

Principal Data Analyst

Suvabrata Das is currently working as a Senior Data Analyst with BMT in North America. The focus of his present work is asset monitoring and digital twin development. He has over 15 years of industry experience as a Naval Architect, in the field of hydrodynamic and structural analysis. His work on potential flow models of advancing ships is published in leading journals and is widely adopted by other researchers. Dr. Das earlier obtained his Ph.D. in Ocean Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, with focus on hydroelasticity of marine vessels.

Simon leads BMT’s offshore wind business development campaign globally. With over 25 years of industry experience, Simon led market engagement for The Crown Estate’s Offshore Wind Leasing Round 5 - the first dedicated exclusively to floating turbines - and has worked in senior commercial roles for start-ups in the clean energy and tech sectors. Simon holds degrees in energy technology/economics, and business; is a member of the Energy Institute and serves on the advisory board for postgraduate energy degrees at City, University of London.
