Twin Promotions at BMT Marine & Offshore Surveys Ltd

BMT Marine & Offshore Surveys Ltd, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, is pleased to confirm the appointment of Nigel Clark as Managing Director with former Managing Director Dr Phil Thompson taking on the role of non-executive Chairman.
Nigel has been with the company since September 2009 having joined as Finance Director. He has a strong background in the marine and offshore sectors having held senior positions within a number of oil and gas companies and within London Marine Group (LMG) where he was both Group Finance Director and acting CEO. Whilst with LMG Nigel was instrumental in helping the Company to achieve significant growth.
During his career Nigel has worked across a wide range of maritime ventures including the roll out of a shipping focussed marine consultancy business; the commercial management of significant offshore warranty survey contracts; the financing of EPiC contracts to deliver spread mooring systems; the financial management of a number of oilfield developments; and the successful entry of a business into the market providing FPSO and FSO solutions in competition to the established providers.
Nigel's remit as Managing Director of BMT Marine & Offshore Surveys includes developing the company's market-leading position while maintaining the present high levels of customer service and support. BMT is currently the leading provider of surveying and marine consultancy services to the Hull & Machinery and P&I Insurance markets, and expert witness and marine consultancy services to the legal profession. The company's world-wide base of offices and its highly qualified and experienced permanent staff also provide global expertise in the provision of marine warranty surveying services to the offshore energy industry; a sector Nigel is keen to develop further.
Former Managing Director, Dr Phil Thompson will hand over to Nigel after overseeing a successful turnaround of the business during his two and a half years in the role. Phil will now assume the full time role of Sector Director following his promotion last year, taking responsibility for transport across the whole BMT group. However he will still remain directly involved with BMT Marine & Offshore Surveys taking on role of Chairman to ensure a degree of continuity and assist in the continued growth and development of the business.
